TOPIC: Rest, To Be Saved (TREM Devotional 4 January 2025)

“This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength. But you would have none of it. You said, ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle.’ But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you!” Isaiah 30:15-16 (NLT)

MESSAGE

Beloved, the world is fast-heading for destruction. The ancient Prophet of God, Isaiah said, “For darkness shall cover the earth and gross darkness the people:…” (Isaiah 60:2 KJV) Indeed, we are living in the fulfillment of this prophecy, but as believers, it is not God’s intention that we grope in darkness or are consumed by the evil of the age.

So, what then is the way out for you, child of God? How can you escape the gross darkness in the world today, and experience the manifestation of God’s promises in your life? The solution is simple; rest, to be saved!

From our scriptural text, the Lord speaking through Prophet Isaiah, declared unto the people that their salvation would only come by returning to and resting in Him. In other words, God was saying that their deliverance, prosperity, breakthrough, success, restoration of lost years and opportunities, etc., would only come by returning to Him and resting in Him. Beloved, your deliverance or the manifestation of your expectations for the new year 2025 will not come by your connections, capacity, permutations or how fail-proof your plans are, as good and necessary as that is.

Child of God, if your plans for 2025 are focused on that person in government you know that will speak for you, or give you access to your next career opportunity, or your own permutations, then, let me announce to you that vain is the help of man (Psalm 60:11). Like I always say, the best of men is still man, and the arm of flesh will utterly fail.

Beloved, you cannot afford to seek help from Egypt; Egypt represents the world and her systems, idiosyncrasies, perspectives and models. It will not profit you anything. Imagine that God’s people refused His solution for salvation, which is resting in the finished work of Christ, but rather chose to seek help from the world. This cannot be your choice as a believer, if you want to partake of the benefits of Christ’s atonement.

Do not make the mistake of aligning with Egypt; if you pitch your tent with Egypt in 2025, then the only outcome is that you will be chased swiftly by your enemies. Your salvation is found in the place of rest, and your strength is in the place of quietness and confidence in the Lord. Beloved, rest, to be saved.
