SCRIPTURE: Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. John 13:23
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The closer you get to God, the higher you grow in love.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE
The Scripture makes it clear that intimacy with God facilitates the growth of love (1 John 4:16). If God is love (1 John 4:8) and a person hangs around God, such a person has no option but to manifest love.
David maintained a high level of intimacy with God as can be seen in Psalm 27:4: One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after… to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
That was the kind of passion David had for God.
In Psalm 55:17, David said, Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
And in Psalm 42:1-2, he cried: As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
David expressed an uncommon yearning for the Presence of God.
That was the kind of person David was: a passionate lover of God. No wonder, when he saw people who were in distress, everyone that was in debt, and everyone that was discontented, he gathered them together and became their captain (1 Samuel 22:2). David moved with passion and compassion for people.
David was a man of extraordinary compassion. He demonstrated uncommon compassion even in battle. On a particular occasion, while pursuing an enemy troop, David and his men found a man in the field. Instead of continuing the pursuit, they stopped, fed the man, revived him, and strengthened him before proceeding. The man he fed was a young Egyptian, servant to one of the Amalekites, the same enemy David was pursuing (1 Samuel 30:11-18).
Closeness to God equals a heart overflowing with love for people.
John the Beloved also demonstrated this reality. He was one of the closest disciples to Jesus Christ. John 13:23 says, Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved.
While the other disciples were wondering who would betray Jesus, John’s close bond with the Master allowed him to ask directly, since he reclined right next to Jesus’ chest.
No wonder, when it was time to reveal the mysteries of the end times, it was John Jesus revealed them to. He became John the Revelator, the writer of the Book of Revelation.
It is also remarkable that no other apostle spoke so much about love as John. Throughout the Gospel of John, The Books of First John, Second John, and Third John, the message of love is consistently emphasised.
Beloved, the closer you get to God, the higher you rise in love. Genuine intimacy with God produces authentic love for people. The only thing you encounter in God’s Presence is pure, unadulterated love.
REMEMBER THIS: The closer you get to God, the higher you grow in love.

- Cultivate a deeper dimension of intimacy with God through prayer and the study of His Word.
- Allow your relationship with God to overflow into practical love and compassion for people.
- Refuse hatred, bitterness, and unforgiveness, and choose to walk in love every day.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the light of Your Word to me. Draw me closer to Yourself every day. Let my intimacy with You produce genuine love for You and for people, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
