TOPIC: The Tragedy Of Wandering Heart (Seeds Of Destiny 4 January 2025)

SCRIPTURE: And their nobles shall be of themselves, and their governor shall proceed from the midst of them; and I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach unto me: for who is this that engaged his heart to approach unto me? saith the Lord. Jeremiah 30:21.

THOUGHT: A wandering heart can render both your prayer and your prayer time useless and unproductive. Our anchor Scripture reveals that focus is one key to praying effectively.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2024 MESSAGE:

The kind of prayer that commands results is the prayer that focuses, like a laser beam, on the subject of the prayer. You know, it is possible to come for a prayer meeting, but your heart is not in the prayer exercise; it is possible to gather in a church for a fasting program to pray, but your heart is absent. Many years ago, in the course of a service one day, while a pastor was preaching, he said, “Praise the Lord!” expecting answer from the congregants. Then someone in the congregation shouted, “One Hundred Naira” Amazing!

Later, it was discovered that he was thinking on One Hundred Naira throughout the service. He was owing someone the sum of One Hundred Naira, and because that was the dominant thought in his heart, it reflected in his speech. This is a practical example of attempting to be in two places at the same time which is a wrong thing to do. The Law of Focus implies that anywhere you are at a particular time, let your mind and your spirit be there also. This means, it is not correct to be praying in one place and your mind is in another place or in another thing. So, the place of the heart is so central to destiny. This is the reason why the heart is the major battle ground in life and destiny. A wondering heart can render both your prayer and your prayer time useless and unproductive. So, engaging the heart in prayer means taking the decision to focus your heart on the subject of prayer. This is the kind of prayer God hears. God does not hear or answer your prayer if your heart wanders away while you pray even if your mouth is moving with so much exertion of energy and physical strength.

Remember this: A wondering heart can render both your prayer and your prayer time useless and unproductive.

ASSIGNMENT:

  1. Do not allow your heart to wander while prayer.
  2. Like a laser beam focus, pull your heart to the prayer subject matter.

PRAYER: Father, I receive the grace and discipline to focus my heart and mind on the subject of prayer while praying. Give me a laser beam focus, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.
