BIBLE TEXT: Revelation 3:14-19
14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and need nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous, therefore, and repent.
MESSAGE:
Many young people are easily carried away by mundane things, which sets them on a path of unnecessary competition. For example, a child who sees his friend using the latest phone and wants to get it at all costs may decide to find resources through any means, even though they might be against the will of God. Jesus warns believers against the lust of the eyes and advises that we should set our affections on Heavenly things so that we would not be drawn into covetousness.
In today’s Bible reading. Jesus accused the Church in Laodicea of being lukewarm: they were neither hot nor cold. They had been carried away by their material prosperity. Unfortunately, many Churches today are filled with young people who go to church to show off their material possessions- clothes, accessories, cars, et cetera. All these are vanity!
Beloved, don’t be deceived. Nothing Can give you sure access to satisfaction except Jesus Christ Himself, not even the possessions of the whole world.
PRAYER POINT
Father, take away the lust for material things from my heart.
HYMN 5 – Take My Life And Let It Be
- Take my life and let it
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moment and my days
Let them flow ceaseless praise. - Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee - Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee. - Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect and use
Every power as thou shalt choose. - Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer be mine:
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne, - Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take me, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
