TOPIC – No Need For Envy (Open Heaven for Teens, 27 September 2026)
MEMORISE: A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones. Proverbs 14:30
BIBLE READING: James 3:14-16
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
MESSAGE:
Envy is the feeling of wanting to be in the same situation as someone else, or the desire for something that someone else has. I am always surprised when I see people, especially believers, envying others. Why should people envy others when their success does not hinder them in any way? What God is doing for someone else cannot hinder what God will do for another person, so there’s no need to be envious.
Envying what others have can prevent a believer from receiving his or her blessings. My dear child, instead of being envious of anyone, appreciate God for that person, rejoice with him or her, and keep working on your goals to achieve your own blessings. Job 5:2 says, “For wrath kills a foolish man, and envy slays a simple one.”

If a student wants to do well in a particular subject or course, instead of envying the best student, it is better to become friends with him or her. That way, he or she can receive help with the areas of the subject or course that he or she finds difficult. It is God’s desire for you to be the best; however, when you see someone who is doing better than you, don’t be angry or envious. Rejoice with such a person and be friends with him or her so that you can learn more.
