TOPIC: It Is Finished (Open Heaven for Teens, 2 April 2026)

MEMORISE: Buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. Colossians 2:12

BIBLE READING: John 19:28-30

28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

MESSAGE:

God created mankind in His image as pan expression of His love for us and also for fellowship. However, man got deceived by the devil, which led to sin against God, thereby shattering the relationship with God. This ultimately led to a loss of access to God, pain, suffering, and hostility between the seed of the woman and the devil. Furthermore, sin became the order of the day, and animals were sacrificed to atone for the sin of man. That was the fate of mankind before God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross.

The death and resurrection of Christ brought salvation to man. The last statement Jesus made on the cross before He died was, “It is finished.” It was a declaration of victory over satan, and signified the restoration of the relationship between God and man.

My dear child, Jesus’ death and resurrection has given us access to God the Father. To enjoy this blessing of restoration, however, you must accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour if you have not yet done so. Thereafter, you must be intentional about living a holy life so that the devil will not have any power over you.

PRAYER POINT:
Thank You, Lord, for sending Your only begotten Son to die for me.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 9:31-50, Numbers 28-30

HYMN 1: AT THE CROSS

1 O Jesus, Lord, thy dying love
Hath pierced my contrite heart;
Now take my life, and let me prove
How dear to me thou art.

Refrain:
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart roll’d away,
It was there by faith I receiv’d my sight,
And now I am happy night and day.

2 Amid the night of sin and death
Thy light hath filled my soul;
To me Thy loving voice now saith,
Thy faith hath made thee whole. [Refrain]

3 I kiss Thy feet, I clasp Thy hand,
I touch Thy bleeding side;
O let me here forever stand,
Where thou wast crucified. [Refrain]

4 My Lord, my light, my strength, my all,
I count my gain but loss;
Forever let Thy love enthrall,
And keep me at the cross. [Refrain]
