MEMORISE: Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.
6 And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.
7 And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
MESSAGE:
Sadness sometimes feels like carrying a backpack full of heavy rocks; it can be tiring, painful, and overwhelming. The good news, however, is that Jesus is ever-present to lift the weight of sadness from His children. As a child of God, you don’t have to go through life alone or pretend to be okay when you’re not. Instead, lean on Jesus, and He will give you rest, as today’s memory verse tells us.

Many teenagers struggle to trust adults, whether it be their parents or teachers, and would rather confide in their peers when they are sad. Unfortunately, some of them receive wrong counsel and cultivate harmful habits like substance abuse, gambling, et cetera.
My dear child, if the above scenario describes your current situation, I want you to know that Jesus loves you deeply and wants to fill your heart with joy. Please pause right now, and lay your burdens at His feet. Tell Him you’re sorry for taking the wrong path.
Furthermore, seek help from a godly counsellor, your Sunday school teacher, or your pastor. They can guide you on how to walk in victory and experience the abundant life that God has planned for you. I pray that the Almighty God will remove anything that may be causing sadness in your life, in Jesus’ name.
ACTION POINT:
If you’re feeling sad, don’t let it persist; seek help today.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
MARK 9:1-30, NUMBERS 26-27
HYMN 6: What A Friend We Have In Jesus
1 What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
all because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer!

2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a friend so faithful
who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
take it to the Lord in prayer!
3 Are we weak and heavy laden,
cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge–
take it to the Lord in prayer!
Do your friends despise, forsake you?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In his arms he’ll take and shield you;
you will find a solace there.
