TOPIC – Demands Of Discipleship (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 20 September 2026)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Isaiah 45, Isaiah 45, Luke 11, Luke 12.
FIRE SCRIPTURE: Luke 14:25-33 (KJV)
25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,

30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
MEMORY VERSE: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. – Matthew 4:19 (KJV)

MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:
When God instructed Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to Him on Mount Moriah, I doubt if he discussed the issue with Sarah. All hell would probably have broken loose if he did. By quietly taking the child of his old age (the source of his joy) and going to obey God, Abraham was paying one of the prices of discipleship that our Lord would later establish during His earthly ministry.

Discipleship goes beyond looking to Jesus to solve your financial or marital or health or any other problems. Those who are disillusioned and consider turning back when their problems are not solved at the touch of a button or when following Him requires that they make sacrifices, are not disciples—They are what the Bible calls the crowd or mixed multitude.
What are the demands of discipleship to the Lord Jesus? The first demand of discipleship is that we love Jesus more than ourselves. This means that we must be ready to deny ourselves and follow Him anywhere He leads, without looking back. This means that we must be ready to take up His cross, give up personal comfort and be dead to this world. The second demand of discipleship is to love Jesus more than any other person—parents, spouse, friend, relative, and benefactor—love for any other person pales into insignificance when Jesus comes in. No wonder Abraham did not think twice or consult anyone before laying Isaac on the altar! The third demand of discipleship is readiness to give up our resources (time, talent, material, financial) for Jesus without thinking twice. In fact, giving generously to God and our fellow men is one of the signs of true discipleship.

Beloved, discipleship is a call to responsibility and service. It demands that you deny yourself, take your cross daily and follow Jesus (Luke 9:23). You also need to sit at Jesus’ feet to learn, obey His wisdom and abide in His Word (John 8:31). Finally, you must demonstrate Christ’s love to other believers, share the good news with them and disciple them. I pray that you will not miss the reward of following Him in this life and the next, in Jesus’ Name.
