TOPIC – Build With Wisdom
READ: 1 Kings 5:7-12
7 And it came to pass, when Hiram heard the words of Solomon, that he rejoiced greatly, and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, which hath given unto David a wise son over this great people.
8 And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things which thou sentest to me for: and I will do all thy desire concerning timber of cedar, and concerning timber of fir.
9 My servants shall bring them down from Lebanon unto the sea: and I will convey them by sea in floats unto the place that thou shalt appoint me, and will cause them to be discharged there, and thou shalt receive them: and thou shalt accomplish my desire, in giving food for my household.
10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.
11 And Solomon gave Hiram twenty thousand measures of wheat for food to his household, and twenty measures of pure oil: thus gave Solomon to Hiram year by year.
12 And the Lord gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him: and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon; and they two made a league together.
THE MESSAGE:
King Solomon’s request to Hiram king of Tyre to supply raw materials for him to use to build the temple of the Lord was eagerly responded to by Hiram. Why? It is because Hiram saw in Solomon a man who was wise (v. 7). As a result, Solomon’s heart’s desire was met in getting materials for the temple (vv. 8, 10). Similarly, Hiram had his wish met (v. 9). We read in verse 12 that this happy arrangement, sealed by a treaty between the two kings, testifies to the wisdom God gave to Solomon. Solomon’s God-given wisdom therefore played a role in ensuring that the house of the Lord was built. Discover Faith Communities
The Bible speaks so much about wisdom, that the entire book of Proverbs is devoted to it. If we are to successfully go through life, we need the wisdom of God to effectively carry out God’s given assignments, like Solomon did. Wisdom is needed to apply God’s truth to daily relationships and situations. When we have the wisdom of God, we operate not with what we know but ‘who’ we know, that is, Jesus Christ, who is wisdom from God (1 Cor. 1:30). God promises to give wisdom to anyone who asks (James 1:5). Wisdom helps us to build everything concerning our lives on a firm foundation, with positive outcomes (Matt. 7:24).
PRAYER: Father, help me to build my life on your Son who is wisdom from You.
