MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:
For the past two days, we have considered the eating disorders that have to do with restriction of food intake. Today, we consider another form of eating disorder which is binge eating or overeating. In this case, you eat very quickly, keep eating even when you’re not hungry or when you’re full without any form of discipline. Gluttony can fall under this category.

The Bible regards gluttony as a sin (Proverbs 23:20-21). It shows a lack of discipline; it makes an individual behave without control. This was what Esau exhibited when he sold his birthright to Jacob (Genesis 25:33-34; Hebrews 12:16). Any desire that makes an individual lose control of him/herself is not from God; it is rather a ploy of the devil to destroy such an individual.
A person may binge-eat in response to stress, anger, boredom, loneliness or a distressing situation. Over-indulgence is never a good thing, no matter what excuse is used to justify it.
God wants His children to be disciplined in every area, including in their relationship with food. He has given us His Holy Spirit Who bears in us the fruit of self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). We should allow the Holy Spirit work in us to do the will of the Father.
Also, binge-eating is a wrong response to adverse situations. Psalm 55:22 encourages us to cast our burdens on the Lord. So, instead of binging on chocolate or hard drugs or whatever else, take your issues to the Lord in prayer. He cares about you and He will answer you, only if you call.
If you find yourself struggling with binge eating or gluttony, the Lord wants to help you. The first thing to do is to give your life to Christ if you haven’t already done so. Then, you need to ask the Holy Spirit to baptise you with the spirit of self-control. In addition, it would be a good idea to get an accountability partner, someone who will keep you committed to your goal, preferably a Christian. I pray that the Lord will deliver you, in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER POINTS:
MORNING
- O Lord, my Father, deliver me from lack of self-control, in the Name of Jesus.
- O Lord, help me to discipline myself, in the Name of Jesus.
- I reject every shameful behaviour, in the Name of Jesus.
EVENING
- O Lord, I cast my burdens upon You, help me, in the Name of Jesus.
- I refuse to handle issues in the way of the world, in the Name of Jesus.
- Holy Spirit of God, baptise me with self-control, in the Name of Jesus.
- Food will not destroy me, in the Name of Jesus.
