TOPIC – Divine Restoration
MEMORISE: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” – Joel 2:25 (KJV)
READ: Matthew 12:9-13 (KJV)
9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 78-80
Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE
While I was a lecturer at one of the universities in Nigeria, there was a man who was not promoted for 12 years because somebody hid his file. When God was going to restore all this man had lost, the head of his department was changed, and his replacement asked to see the files of all staff in the department. They searched for this man’s file until they dug it out from where it had been hidden. When his file was opened, they discovered that he should have been promoted at least twice, so they gave him a double promotion.
God can restore all the years you seem to have lost. He can reverse the irreversible and bring back the opportunities you missed in the past. In today’s Bible reading, Jesus entered the temple and found a man with a withered hand. Before Jesus left the temple that day, He ensured that the man’s withered hand received life and was divinely restored. In the name that is above every other name, if there is anything that is withered in your life, it will receive an instant restoration today.
Some Christians’ walk with God can also be described as withered. For example, when a Christian who used to spend hours in God’s presence can hardly spend up to thirty minutes with Him in prayer, such a Christian’s walk with God is withered. Some Christians could heal the sick and cast out demons in Jesus’ name in the past, but now, they have become victims of sicknesses and demonic oppression. If you are reading this devotional and your walk with God has withered, I pray that you will experience a divine restoration today, in Jesus’ name. The Lord will breathe afresh into you and cause you to experience a greater realm of glory than the former days (Haggai 2:9).
Job said that no matter how badly a tree has been cut, as long as its stump is in the ground and it can perceive the scent of water, there is hope for it (Job 14:7-9). Beloved, since you are still alive to read this today, it means that there is hope for you concerning any withered situation that might exist in your life. All you have to do is submit completely to the Great Restorer and seek His face for help. He will step into your situation and restore all that you might have lost, in Jesus’ name.
KEY POINTS
As long as there is still breath in you, God can fully restore everything you have lost.
HYMN 15 – Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour
1 Pass me not, O gentle Savior
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
2 Let me at a throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition
Help my unbelief.
3 Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.
4 Thou the Spring of all my comfort
More than life to me
Whom have I on earth beside Thee
Whom in heav’n but Thee?

TOPIC – Words Can Heal
MEMORISE: “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” – Colossians 4:6 (KJV)
READ: John 8:1-11 (KJV)
1 Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
2 And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
3 And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 73-77
Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE
Over the past two days, I discussed the power words; today, I will focus on how words can heal.
As a Christian, you should always be gracious with your words (Ephesians 4:29). You should be generous with giving compliments and telling people encouraging words. Simply saying things like, “I like your haircut,” can bring people out of sadness and put a smile on their faces. Your compliments must, however, be genuine because God will punish those who flatter others with their words (Psalm 12:3).
In Ruth 2:1, Boaz was described as a mighty man of wealth. Unlike some wealthy people who look down on their workers and speak rashly to them, Boaz encouraged his workers with his words, and they responded pleasantly (Ruth 2:4). I believe this is partly responsible for Boaz’s successful business. If you are a business owner and you curse or talk down on your workers, you are indirectly also cursing the work of your hands because they are the ones managing it for you.
Nabal, unlike Boaz, was a man who spoke negative words. When David sent his men to ask him to give them something, his response was terrible. He spoke harshly to the men and if his wife, Abigail, hadn’t intervened by going without his consent to soothe David with her words, everyone in his family would have been destroyed. While Nabal’s words stirred up David’s anger and made him gather his men to go against the former’s household, Abigail’s words were seasoned with salt and kept her family from destruction (1 Samuel 25:1-35).
When you speak, what effect do your words have? Do they heal or destroy? Solomon said, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Proverbs 18:21). Apostle Paul, in today’s memory verse, tells us to make sure that our speech is always with grace and seasoned with salt. Seasoning makes food more enjoyable. A fellow whose speech is well-seasoned will always attract others to himself or herself because people go to places where they are appreciated and motivated. When the woman caught in the act of adultery in today’s Bible reading was brought to Jesus, in the midst of many condemning words from other people, His words, “Go and sin no more,” brought her the liberty that she needed (John 8:11).
Beloved, let your words bring unbelievers to Jesus and show them His grace. Do not let your words be the reason people reject the gospel.
ACTION POINTS:
Consciously give genuine compliments and encourage people with your words every day.
HYMN 24 – I Want To Be Like Jesus
1 I want to be like Jesus,
So lowly and so meek;
For no one marked an angry word,
That ever heard Him speak.
2 I want to be like Jesus,
So frequently in prayer;
Alone upon the mountain top,
He met His Father there.
3 I want to be like Jesus,
I never, never find
That He, though persecuted was
To anyone unkind.
4 I want to be like Jesus,
Engaged in doing good;
So that of me it may be said,
“He hath done what he could.”
5 I want to be like Jesus,
Who sweetly said to all,
“Let little children come to Me,”
I would obey the call.
6 But oh, I’m not like Jesus,
As anyone may see;
O gentle Savior, send Thy grace,
And make me like to thee.

TOPIC – Words Are Powerful (2)
MEMORISE: “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.” – Proverbs 15:1 (KJV)
READ: Genesis 3:1-13 (KJV)
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden.
9 And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE
Indeed, words are very powerful. For example, if you are married, there are certain statements you must never make to your spouse because even after forgiving you, it will take the grace of God for him or her to forget them, and this might affect the marriage for a long time. For instance, you should never tell your spouse that you regret marrying him or her. You should also never compare your spouse with other people or tag them as enemies of progress. The damage from such statements may be irreparable because the self-esteem of your spouse might have been destroyed. Whenever you are angry, it is better to keep quiet than to say things you will later regret. If you must speak, always ensure that you address the issue at hand and not the person.
The devil always likes to fuel quarrels to make people say things that will negatively affect one or more of the parties involved. Playing the blame game and attacking people verbally only worsens problems.
But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. – Galatians 5:15
When people bite and devour each other with wrong and negative words, they usually end up destroying their relationships. Christians must not be ignorant of the devices of the devil so that he doesn’t take advantage of them (2 Corinthians 2:11). Often, the devil wants relationships to be full of strife so that he can be free to do whatever he wants, and when people say hurtful words to one another, they stir up strife. If you do not want the devil’s involvement in your relationships, you should take out the wood of wrong and negative words whenever there are disagreements because if there is no wood, the fire will go out. Instead of using harsh words when you have a disagreement with someone, your responses should be soft because a soft answer will always turn away wrath (Proverbs 15:1).
Beloved, if someone close to you has said hurtful words to you in the past, I plead on the person’s behalf that you should forgive him or her. Please don’t let the words bring permanent damage to yourself or your relationship with that fellow. If you are in this situation, I declare your healing today, and if you have lost any God-given relationships, may the Almighty God restore them in the name of Jesus.
KEY POINTS:
Never speak harsh and negative words, no matter the provocation.
