TOPIC: A Lifestyle Of Contentment (DCLM Daily Manna 2 April 2026)
KEY VERSE: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee – Hebrews 13:5
TEXT: Hebrews 13:4-8 (KJV)
4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
William Randolph Hearst, a prominent American newspaper mogul and politician, built an incredible art collection. At one point, he determined to acquire a specific piece of art and dispatched his agent overseas to find it. After months of diligent searching, the agent finally reported that they had located the artwork. To Hearst’s astonishment, he discovered that the piece would cost him nothing – he already owned it! It turned out that the treasure was sitting in his warehouse, tucked away among countless other unboxed artefacts. This story serves as a poignant reminder of how we often overlook the treasures we already possess while yearning for more.

Living in satisfaction might seem almost improbable in our fast-paced world, where the pursuit of wealth and success can feel all-consuming. However, today’s text encourages us to nurture a heart of contentment by focusing on God’s unwavering presence and promises. If God is by our side, we have everything we need. The passage starts by emphasising the sanctity of marriage and the importance of maintaining purity in our relationships. This reminds us that contentment goes beyond material wealth; it also involves cherishing and nurturing our family bonds.
Husbands and wives should find joy in their relationship instead of longing for someone else’s partner or cheating. The word of God consistently urges us to avoid fleshly lusts and the love of money, encouraging us to be satisfied with what we have. An unchecked desire for wealth, pleasure, status, power, or fame often traps men in relentless striving and dissatisfaction. Instead, God calls us to trust His provision and presence, confident that He will never abandon us.
Just as His presence was all that Israel needed to navigate the wilderness, His presence is all we need today. The passage also reminds us to acknowledge and imitate the faith of believers before us. By looking at the lives of faithful leaders and mentors, we can learn valuable lessons on sufficiency. Their example of trusting in God’s faithfulness, regardless of circumstances, is a powerful testimony that Jesus Christ, who helped them in the past, will help us now, because He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
