TOPIC: You Are Blessed Amidst All Odds
READ: Luke 6:20-2
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake.
THE MESSAGE:
St. Luke captures the beatitudes (i. e. pronouncement of supreme blessings), in our text today. These are the blessings that follow those who put their total trust in God. For the poor in spirit, theirs is the kingdom of God. To those who now hunger, God shall fill them with good things, and for the weeping, though it endures for a night, joy and laughter shall surely come forth in the morning (Psalm 30:5).
Beloved, have you been hated? Are you till now hated, looked down on, mocked and disowned? Listen to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ for you now: “Rejoice and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven” (verse 23). As we go through this year’s Lenten Season, may we be reassured of God’s never-failing promises and presence. You are blessed amidst all odds.
PRAYER: Dear Lord and Father, help me to be strong in You despite the circumstance. Amen.
