TOPIC: Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz
READ: Isaiah 8:1-4 (NKJV).
- Moreover the LORD said to me, “Take a large scroll, and write on it with a man’s pen concerning Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz.
- “And I will take for Myself faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.”
- Then I went to the prophetess, and she conceived and bore a son. Then the LORD said to me, “Call his name Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz;
- “for before the child shall have knowledge to cry ‘My father’ and ‘My mother,’ the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be taken away before the king of Assyria.”
THE MESSAGE:
From our text yesterday, God gave Isaiah further instructions: he should impregnate his wife and give the son that would be born the name, Maher-shalal-hash-baz (meaning “Quick-loot-fast-plunder” – GNT). This indicates the swiftness of the Assyrian attack and invasion on Damascus (Capital of Syria) and Samaria (Capital of Israel, the Northern Kingdom) and their plundering. The name of the child would serve as a continual reminder to the people of the prophecy. This invasion would take place before the child would learn to speak intelligibly, meaning it would come fast.

Our God usually takes time to warn us about an impending danger and would use every means available to do so. He may not be in a hurry to execute His judgement as to give those concerned the opportunity to repent of their shortcomings. How long has the Lord warned you or reminded you to change from that particular lifestyle? Has He not been patient enough before He changes His mind. Today is the acceptable time; today is the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6: 2).
PRAYER: Dear Lord, please give me the grace to heed to Your warning before it’s late. Amen!

- Father in the name of Jesus, thank You for the grace to see this day, the thirty-seven day in year 2025 in good health, sound mind and in joy
- Father, thank You for the special gift of life, many wished to see this month, but they couldn’t.
- Thank You Jesus for being there for us, Your children.
- Thank You Lord for Your plans for me this year. They are plans of good, not of evil, to give me a good and successful end.
- Father, please forgive me all my known and unknown sins, and let no sin reign over my life this year, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, guide my life through divine instructions, in Jesus’ name.
- Help me, Holy Spirit, to yield to God’s warning and follow His instructions, in Jesus’ name.
- I receive grace to change from every lifestyle that does not glorify God, in Jesus’ name.
- Help me, Holy Spirit, to escape the coming judgement of God, in Jesus’ name.
- Father, please don’t be wearied or impatient with us, till we become what You desire of us, in Jesus’ name.
- LORD, help me to get my life right this year, and let Your perfect will be enforced on me, in Jesus name
- LORD, help us to get it right in Nigeria, and let Your perfect will be enforced on us in Jesus’ name.
- Heavenly Father, let Your peace continue to reign in every part of this country,
- Whether the devil likes it or not, I will make heaven and receive my eternal rewards in Jesus’ Name.
- This is the day the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
