Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE
Our anchor Scripture makes it clear that both the slothful and the waster have the same destiny.
Now, what is waste?
According to the Oxford Dictionary, to waste means to use or expend carelessly, extravagantly, or to no purpose. Waste happens where a person is using resources carelessly, extravagantly, or to no purpose. We have a lot of careless spenders and those who spend to no purpose.
Waste also includes unplanned, unbudgeted, and unwise spending. You didn’t plan it, you didn’t budget it, and it is not wise or expedient. Imagine this: you just found yourself somewhere, and they are selling things, and you decided to buy on impulse. You didn’t plan it. You didn’t need it. You just wanted to patronise the seller. This is a doorway to scarcity for many people.
Please pay attention to the following:
i. Both the wasteful and the slothful have one destiny – scarcity, shortage, and empty-handedness. The slothful and the wasteful will end in the same place. They have the same destiny.
Proverbs 18:9 corroborates this: He also that is slothful in his work is the brother of him that is a great waster.
ii. The famine will always arise for the waster. If famine does not happen yet, it is only a matter of time.
The story of the prodigal son in Luke 15:13-14 confirms this: And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
iii. Wisdom and waste are mutually exclusive, diametrically opposed.
That is, the presence of wisdom is the absence of waste, and the absence of wisdom is the presence of waste. If a man is wise, he won’t waste resources. But anywhere wisdom is lacking, waste is abundant.
Proverbs 21:20 tells us that there is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
Some time ago, two cars were brought to me, and they said, “These two cars are very cheap. This is the price of them.” I said, “All right, I have heard the price of those two cars, I can drop that money at once for crusades, for souls to be saved. I can use it to reach out to the poor, the afflicted, and so on. But to spend it on just cars to drive is what I find difficult.”
