TOPIC: Avoiding The Plague Of Prayerlessness (Seeds Of Destiny 23 March 2026)

SCRIPTURE: He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray and not to faint. I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man cometh, shall He find faith on the earth? Luke 18:1,8.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Sin creates guilt, and guilt destroys boldness in prayer.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE

There are proven indicators of healthy relationships. One of the key indicators of a healthy relationship is effective or buoyant communication. Two people in a sound relationship would talk about everything during their conversation, whether the topic of discussion is relevant or not. This confirms why our walk with God as Christians becomes less effective and impotent if we are prayerless.

Our anchor scripture makes it clear that prayerlessness will become a major plague, especially towards the end of the age. In other words, that scripture is saying that when the Son of Man returns, will He still find people who value prayer? (Luke 18:8 paraphrased).

Today, we will examine some of the forces that attack prayer life so we can avoid them in our quest for a buoyant relationship with God.

  1. Sinfulness.

Sinfulness is the number one cause of prayerlessness.
It is a direct attack on prayerfulness.
Sin affects prayer in three major ways:

a. Sin attacks our love for God. Matthew 24:12 says, “Because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. And when love dies, communication dies. If you don’t love someone, you don’t communicate with them.

b. Sin attacks confidence and boldness before God. Proverbs 28:1 says, “The wicked flee when no man pursueth, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Sin creates guilt, and guilt destroys boldness in prayer. You will hardly find a practicing gambler, a drunkard, or an immoral person testifying of deep prayer hours. Sin attacks confidence at the altar of prayer.

c. Sin creates separation between man and God. Isaiah 59:1–2 makes it clear that sin separates us from God, hides God’s face from us, and blocks our communication with Him. Prayers begin to feel like they are hitting a brick wall—and prayerlessness soon sets in.

  1. Wordlessness.
Wordlessness is the absence of God’s Word; it is another enemy of prayer. Prayer without the Word is like fire without wood, and where there is no wood, the fire goes out (Proverbs 26:20).

The Word of God boosts prayer in two vital ways:

a. The Word provides the premise of prayer through the revelation of God’s promises (Hosea 14:2, John 15:7)

Personalized prayer service

b. The Word is the fuel for faith (Romans 10:17). Hebrews 11:6 reminds us that without faith, prayer is impossible. No Word → No faith → No confidence → No prayer.

  1. Haughtiness (Pride and Arrogance)

Pride fuels prayerlessness. In essence, prayerlessness is a declaration of self-sufficiency or independence from God. Those who need help run to God (Hebrews 4:16). Pride makes a person a god to themselves. And once you become your own god, you see no need to seek another. This was the spirit of Lucifer as portrayed in Isaiah 14:12–14; I will be like the Most High. That spirit led to his downfall.

  1. Busyness.
Busyness is another enemy of prayerfulness. An overcrowded schedule that pushes God out eventually destroys priorities.

Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God…

Busyness causes God to cease being a priority. Spiritual transactions require stillness, not just activity (Psalm 46:10).

Beloved, be deliberate about maintaining and sustaining a buoyant prayer life as your spiritual lifeline.
