TOPIC: For His Glory

MEMORISE: “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.” – Psalm 29:2 ( KJV)

READ: Isaiah 48:9-11 (KJV)

9 For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.

10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 33-34

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

Yesterday, I discussed how every part of your life was created to give God pleasure. Today, I want to show you that you were also created to give God glory.

In John 9:1-7, the disciples asked Jesus about what was responsible for a blind man’s situation, and He replied that it was not a question of sin but that God’s glory might be revealed. The Lord spat on the ground, made some mud, put it on the blind man’s eyes, and asked him to go and wash. The blind man came back seeing.

Glory belongs to God; He is the Father of glory (Ephesians 1:17). God is very jealous of His glory (Isaiah 42:8), and everything you do must give Him glory. If you try to hinder God from getting glory, He will only use you to get even more glory, as He did with Pharaoh. Even today, God is getting glory from the destruction of Pharaoh and his army because he tried to hinder the Israelites from worshipping and giving God glory (Exodus 15:1-4). Those who try to take God’s glory will bring God’s judgment upon themselves if they don’t repent. When Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was lifted because of his accomplishments, God made him roam the forest for seven years like a wild beast (Daniel 4:28-33). After eating grass like an animal, his understanding returned to him, and he gave God the glory He deserved (Daniel 4:34). It took a terrible experience for Nebuchadnezzar to give all the glory to God – do not be like Him. Always give God the glory that is due to His name. Herod also learnt to give God the glory the hard way. However, unlike Nebuchadnezzar who got a second chance, he was eaten up by worms until he died because he didn’t give God the glory (Acts 12:20-23).

It is a terrible and fearful thing to fall into the hands of our God, who doesn’t share His glory. When God does something for you, don’t act like you did it all by yourself; acknowledge Him and give Him the glory. Some men of God have allowed the power God gave them to deceive them into thinking they are very important. Stop stealing God’s show because you are absolutely nothing without Him. When God does anything through you, He does it for His name’s sake. Don’t ever forget that you are what you are by the grace of God. God deserves all the glory, and He must have it all.

PRAYER POINT

Father, I repent of every time I might have taken credit for the things You have done in my life. I will give You the glory due unto Your name now and always, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 18 – Praise To The Lord, The Almighty, The King Of Creation

1 Praise to the Lord,
the Almighty, the King of creation!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is thy health
and salvation:
Join the great throng
Psaltery, organ and song
Sounding in glad adoration.

2 Praise to the Lord,
over all things he gloriously reigneth:
Borne as on eagle-wings, safely his saints,
He sustaineth
Has thou not seen
How all thou needest hath been
Granted in what he ordaineth?

3 Praise to the Lord, Who doth prosper thy
way and defend thee;
Surely his goodness and mercy shall ever
attend thee; ponder anew,
What the almighty can do
Who with his love doth befriend thee.

4 Praise to the Lord!
O let all that is in me adore him!
All that has breath join with Abraham’s
Seed to adore him!
Let the Amen,
sum all our praises again;
Now as we worship before him.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 Monday Daily Devotional By Pastor E. A. Adeboye – For His Pleasure

TOPIC: For His Pleasure

MEMORISE: “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” – Revelation 4:11 ( KJV)

READ: Mark 8:22-26 (KJV)

22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.

24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.

25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 30-32

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

God created the heavens and the earth in the beginning (Genesis 1:1-3). Today’s memory verse also says that He made all things for His pleasure. Thus, He can control all things, and this is why the wind and the sea obeyed Him (Mark 4:35-41).

You were made for God’s pleasure, but He cannot get any pleasure when your body is sick. In Mark 3:1-5, Jesus saw a man with a withered hand in the temple and must have thought to Himself, “Hand, I didn’t make you to be withered; I made you for clapping.” The man with the withered hand didn’t pray or ask for healing; the Lord healed the hand because it wasn’t giving Him pleasure.

There was once an elderly man who was driving his Ford car when it suddenly broke down by the roadside. As he stood by the car looking confused, a rich man stopped right next to him and asked if he could help. The rich man got out of his car, opened the trunk of the faulty car, touched a few things, and attempted to start the car. Immediately, the car started. Amazed, the old man turned to the rich man and asked, “Why did you stop to help me?” The rich man replied, “My name is Henry Ford. I made that car to run, not to stop by the wayside.” Beloved, the One who made you is passing by now, and He will deal with everything in your life that is not giving Him glory, in Jesus’ name.

When something is not as God created it to be, it doesn’t give Him pleasure. If there is any part of your life that is not revealing God’s purpose, rather than complain, begin to speak God’s counsel over it. God does all things after the counsel of His will, and when you stand on His will concerning anything, that thing must align to give Him pleasure (Ephesians 1:11).

In today’s Bible reading, a blind man was brought to Jesus. Jesus led him out of the town, spat in his eyes, and put His hands on him. When He asked the blind man if he saw anything, the man replied, “I see men as trees walking.” Even though he could now see, his eyes were not working optimally. Jesus didn’t leave him to ‘manage’ the eyes; He laid His hands on him again, and he saw clearly. God wants every aspect of your life to perform optimally; nothing less than this gives Him pleasure.

PRAYER POINT

Lord, please transform my life so that everything that concerns me will always give You pleasure, in Jesus’ name.

HYMN 25 – The Great Physician Now Is Near

1 The great Physician now is near,
the sympathizing Jesus;
He speaks the drooping heart to cheer,
oh! hear the voice of Jesus.

Refrain:
Sweetest note in seraph song,
sweetest name on mortal tongue;
sweetest carol ever sung,
Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2 Your many sins are all forgiven,
oh! hear the voice of Jesus;
go on your way in peace to heaven,
and wear a crown with Jesus. [Refrain]

3 All glory to the risen Lamb!
I now believe in Jesus;
I love the blessed Savior’s name,
love the name of Jesus. [Refrain]

4 His name dispels my guilt and fear,
no other name but Jesus;
oh! how my soul delights to hear
the charming name of Jesus. [Refrain]

TOPIC: But For The Lord

MEMORISE: “Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.” – Psalm 124:6 ( KJV)

READ: Psalm 124:1-8 (KJV)

1 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Open Heaven For Today 2025 MESSAGE

When I was a lecturer at the University of llorin, after my morning lectures, I would leave the campus, go home for lunch, and relax before returning for my evening lectures. I was also serving as the pastor of the RCCG parish in Ilorin then, so our living room was constantly filled with people. One afternoon, after eating, l lay on the couch in the living room to rest before returning for my evening lectures. I closed my eyes so people walking around would think that I was sleeping and not disturb me.

While lying down, someone grabbed my hands and legs and bent as if to kiss me. Initially, I thought it was my wife, but then I realised that whoever could hold my hands and legs at the same time must be much taller and stronger than her. I opened my eyes immediately, and the being (I really couldn’t make out what it was) vanished. I wondered what had just happened as I felt a cold sensation run down my spine. l shook it off and went for my lectures. While I was on the campus, I started experiencing a terrible stomach ache, which led to severe stooling and vomiting. On returning home, I had to practically crawl from my car to the bathroom. Then I asked, “Lord, why is this happening to me?” and He responded, “I just wanted you to get a glimpse of the battles I fight for you that you are not aware of.” Immediately He said that, the stomach ache, stooling, and vomiting stopped.

You have no idea how much God protects you as you go about your daily activities. You may think that you go and come safely because you are very careful or because you are a good driver, but believe me, your carefulness or driving skills cannot get you out of an accident that the devil has planned; only God can guarantee your safety. If you think that you are surrounded by security personnel, what will happen if they face a terror group with more sophisticated weapons than them? This is why Psalm 127:1 says that the watchman watches in vain if the Lord is not watching over the city.

Beloved, some people have plied the same routes you ply and gotten kidnapped or killed. Also, the same kind of food you eat is what has caused the death of others. You should constantly thank God for your safety; you will not be alive without Him (Lamentations 3:22).

ACTION POINT

Today is my birthday; please thank God on my behalf because He truly has been faithful to me.

HYMN 19 – Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me

1 Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee;
let the water and the blood,
from thy wounded side which flowed,
be of sin the double cure;
save from wrath and make me pure.

2 Not the labors of my hands
can fulfill thy law’s demands;
could my zeal no respite know,
could my tears forever flow,
all for sin could not atone;
thou must save, and thou alone.

3 Nothing in my hand I bring,
simply to the cross I cling;
naked, come to thee for dress;
helpless, look to thee for grace;
foul, I to the fountain fly;
wash me, Savior, or I die.

4 While I draw this fleeting breath,
when mine eyes shall close in death,
when I soar to worlds unknown,
see thee on thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
let me hide myself in thee.
