TOPIC: Delayed Expectation, A Reason For Bitterness (Seeds Of Destiny 27 December 2023)

SCRIPTURE: Therefore, I will refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Job 7:11.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: One central root of bitterness is frustration from confrontations, temptations, or delayed expectations.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

In life, there are many reasons why people get bitter. One central root of bitterness is frustration from confrontations, temptations, or delayed expectations.

Bitterness can arise with many challenges, temptations, and delayed expectations.

When you have delayed expectations and you are also facing a lot of battles, you can get bitter against everyone and everything. Some people talk against everything and everyone. To them, nobody is good, nothing works, and everyone is terrible.

I know of a young man who talks negatively about everyone and everything. He is bitter against everyone. As far as he is concerned, everyone conspired to hate him. He is angry against those he thinks should help him but fails to do so. He is over fifty years old now but not yet married.

In such situations of delay, temptations, confrontations, and expectations, succumbing to bitterness becomes a significant temptation.

They are people who are angry with God. The Job was a good example. He came to a point where he was angry with God.

In Job 7:11, Job said,
Therefore, I will refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

The Job was challenging God because of the challenges that engulfed him then.

My counsel: Don’t get angry with God no matter what you go through. Satan may make you point accusing fingers against God because of your challenge. Overcome that temptation. Your challenges are your passing ground to your breakthrough. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.

Remember this: One central root of bitterness is frustration from confrontations, temptations, or delayed expectations.

ASSIGNMENTS:

  1. No matter what you pass through, refuse the temptation of being bitter against God.
  2. See the faithfulness of God in your temporary challenges and give Him praise.

PRAYER: Lord, I reject any bitterness that may arise due to delayed expectations in my life. Strengthen my faith in You in all life circumstances, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
