BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 10, 2 Samuel 11, 2 Samuel 12, 1 John 5, 2 John 1.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 25:31-40 (KJV)

31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:

Remembering the poor is a command, and obeying it comes with great rewards. In Acts 10, Cornelius, a Gentile (non-Jewish) Roman centurion feared God, prayed
regularly and gave generously to the poor. God acknowledged his charitable deeds and sent Peter to him with a message of salvation. The Bible provides other inspiring examples of individuals who cared for the poor: (1) Ruth showed love and loyalty to her mother-in-law, Naomi – Ruth 2:1-23 (2) Job provided for the poor and vulnerable-Job 29:12-16 (3) Boaz demonstrated kindness and generosity to Ruth, a foreigner and widow – Ruth 2:1-23 (4) The Good Samaritan showed compassion to a stranger in need – Luke 10:35-37 (5) Dorcas (Tabitha) was known for her acts of charity and kindness (Acts 9:36-42). When she died, Apostle Peter raised her back to life because her charitable deeds earned her a good reputation and affection.

Let us now examine more deeply the benefits of taking care of the poor. First, your acts of kindness, love and care to the poor, needy and vulnerable will earn you spiritual growth. This is because your obedience to God’s will foster a deeper relationship with Him. Second, you will receive numerous blessings and rewards promised in Scripture to those who care for the poor. Proverbs 19:17 affirms that when you pity and give to the poor, you lend to God and the Most High will surely pay you back in multiple folds. Your reward from the Lord can come in form of financial and material blessings, divine health, divine protection, rescue from danger, promotion at work, and so on. Third, In Luke 14:12-15, Jesus said, “When thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; or they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.” So, your charitable deeds in this life will have positive implications in the next.

In Matthew 25:31-50, our Fire Scripture for today. Jesus teaches that at the final judgement, people will be separated like sheep and goats. The righteous (sheep) are those that showed compassion to those in need (the poor, orphans, widows, the vulnerable, etc). He stressed that serving others is equivalent to serving Him. Psalm 41:1-3 highlights the benefits of remembering the poor.
