READ: Colossians 1:24-29 (NKJV)

  1. I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body, which is the church,
  2. of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God,
  3. the mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints.
  4. To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
  5. Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.
  6. To this [end] I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.

THE MESSAGE

Apostle Paul rejoiced in the unfolding of the great mystery hidden by God for ages. This mystery is that the Almighty God in Christ will dwell inside and among men.

Man will receive power and freedom from the dominion of sin, as well as the hope of glory and eternal life. It is a mystery that a big God who uses the whole earth as his footstool will condescend to live in an earthen vessel called man. What should then be the reaction of any man who understands these riches of the grace and sacrifice made by God to save man?

Those who have embraced this awesome experience are, like Apostle Paul, expected to do the following things: Preach, proclaim, admonish and instruct everyone concerning the great sacrifice God made to save man (vv. 25&28); gain deeper knowledge of the scripture so as to instruct others in all wisdom and comprehensive insight (v.28); labour with all energy to spread the gospel (v.24); and rejoice in suffering account of the gospel(v.24).
