TOPIC: God Remembers Us

READ: Psalm 136:23-26 (KJV)

23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:

24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.

25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.

26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

THE MESSAGE:

The Psalmist recalls that God remembered him. David exclaimed in Psalm 40:2, “He has brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps.” After God reversed Hannah’s state of barrenness, she praised God and said, “He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the beggar from the ash heap, to set them among princes, and make them inherit the throne of glory….” (1 Samuel 2:8). Isaiah 49:15-16 says, “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palm of my hands, your walls are continually before Me.”

In the same way, God remembers, rescues, and feeds us. For these many benefits and more, the Psalmist invites us in verse 26 to give Him thanks. Do you believe that God has inscribed your name on His palms? If so, let that consciousness be on your heart and mind always. When you pass through any “miry clay” or any “valley of the shadow of death”, remember that God knows you by name. Then call upon Him, and He will answer you.

PRAYER:
Thank you, Lord, that you remember me.
